We do not specifically carry "maternity swimsuits" however, many of our pregnant customers love tankinis with support, which we do carry. The advantage is that after you have given birth, you still have a great swimsuit that you may be able to use for a little or even a long while.

Finding a good coverup

There is a huge difference in quality of cover-ups. We have carried a number of brands in the past that we will no longer carry and will not mention in this posting. We carry a very good budget product called Uluwatu. They have great quality at budget prices. You can also order a little better product on line from Ujena.
So many cover-up brands are primarily sold at resorts or in resort communities and I sometimes wonder if they just know that the customer will only be there for a short time and by the time the product falls apart, the customer has left the area. Look for a cover -up in your own community from a store that you trust and where you can take the product back if you need to or, buy it on line from a reputable organization where you can also return it if there are problems.
When you do buy one, after you have found one that you like and that compliments your swimwear, look closely at the stitching. Make sure that it's not ready to fall apart. Give it a gentle tug. It should not come apart easily. Check embroidery, patches, attachments and add-ons. Make sure they are solidly attached. Even some of the more expensive lines can have poor quality. Find something that you like, something with quality and something flattering. There's lots to choose from.

Women who purchase a crocheted swimsuit are usually not looking for a suit to swim in. It is usually for looks and there is a huge difference in quality of suits. You can buy a cheep suit, but if you are going for looks, quality really does matter.

Extra Support From A Swimsuit: What are the options?

When it comes to extra support from a swimsuit there are a lot of options. Not only can you get great breast support; but extra support for just about every other body part as well. Many brands provide tummy control in a one piece. Two examples are Malibu and Ujena. Some brands provide just a little extra tummy control in a high waist line bottom such as some of the Malibu Ocean Breeze line. You can also get an extra band of material in a one piece, tankini, or Marilyn Halter. All of these provide extra support and may be just that little extra that you need.
You will find underwire tops in both bikinis and tankinis. Both Malibu and Ujena have great underwire bikinis which are over sewn to provide not only the extra support but extra security as well.
Sunsets and their sister lines provide perhaps the best options for breast support providing both good quality underwire bikinis and underwire tankinis.
And...if you want to support it all, or almost everything, the sport line TYR will almost certainly have you covered...

PLEASE, set the colors of your swimsuit BEFORE you put on any lotion. Some lotions can make colors run in some suits. There is no 100% guarantee, but if you set the colors first, you'll have a better chance of saving the colors in your suit.

How to look Hot Hot Hot in a Bikini

Let’s face it, bikinis are not as forgiving as a tankini or one piece; but there are things that you still do. You don’t have to be anorexic (please don’t be). Being in great shape and healthy is best but even if everything isn’t perfect there are things that you can do and even if you have a perfect body, there are some things that you shouldn’t do.
Contour is extremely important. A bikini should fit your body type. We’ll give examples later in the article. Please see the posting below: "How to find the perfect suit for your body type. OR; What is the perfect swimsuit for you?" for additional information.
Some things to remember:
You can enhance the appearance of breast size three ways: Ruffles (or Fringes), Padding, and Tying (string around the neck to adjust for extra cleavage).
You can decrease the appearance of breast size by: solid and lighter colors.
You can hide some faults with boy shorts or a skirtini. Boy shorts were very popular last year. Small skirtinis are really in this year.
Now for the three most important things to remember:
1. Try on different styles, you might be surprised. Few women try the bandeau but some look fabulous. Try and see.
2. Don’t be talked into something that you are not comfortable with and that you don’t like.
3. Follow the contour of your body. If you are wearing a scoop or tie bottom and you have high hips, see how it looks at different placements. Be sure and look in a three way mirror. Make sure that it accentuates positive features and does not cut them off.

Remember what we have said before: Try it on, sizes are just not the same from one brand to another and sometimes not even consistent within the line. Make sure it fits you, that you are comfortable and it's the right suit for the activity/place (white is usually not great at a river or lake and if it's going to get wet, you probably want it lined. If you want a second opinion, take a good friend that you trust. A good swim store can tell you about quality, but it's just their opinion on what looks good on you. Some stores will tell you if something looks awful, but some will tell you whatever they think you want to hear just to make a sale. Find someone you can trust, but the most important person you can trust, is usually you.

Resort and Cruise Wear: Look Good, Be Comfortable, and Make it Practical

Today you want to travel as light as possible. If you are going to fly, remember to carry anything of value with you in your purse, pocket or carry on. Some airlines have reduced the amount of luggage that you can check or carry on without paying extra.
This advice will of course depend a great deal on where you are going, what the temperature and humidity will be and what activities you will be involved with.
Pack as light as possible. Here are a few suggestions of items that you will want to consider.
Fabric: Consider Cotton, Linen and Gauze
Clothing:
Long pants: neutral or light color
T shirts: both solid and prints and different styles. Make sure they can mix and match to optimize your options.
Shorts: bermuda and or board shorts (a pair of long and short board shorts provide more options).
Skirt: one light feminine skirt.
Tunic or Cover Up to match.
One or two great fitting swimming suits that make you look AND feel your best.
Wrap set: either pants or skirt.
Dress: depending on where you are going and what you will be doing you may want to consider a formal or semi formal gown or a night club dress.
Note:
If this is important to you, do some research and find out a little about what others will be wearing. You may not want to wear a poofy yellow ball/prom gown if everyone else is wearing a black cocktail dress or a casual dress if everyone else is in a long formal.
The cruise line and/or resort will be happy to make suggestions; however, they will often also be happy to sell you clothing for much more than you will pay if you buy before you go.

One Piece Swimsuits: Practical, Modest & even Sexy? What to look for and consider.

For many activities the one piece swimsuit is the most practical. For most athletic activities it is the best and safest option. You have less to worry about and there is less drag than some other options. Most women involved in water aerobics prefer a one piece without a skirt. They are easier to move around the water in and don’t get in the way of your hands. If water aerobics is your activity consider a polyester or a lycra specially prepared to withstand chlorine or other chemicals that may be in the pool. Look for a cross or T back to better keep the straps in place.
One piece suits can also provide some nice cover and a cute skirt or board shorts make some feel more relaxed, comfortable and less conspicuous. Another advantage of some one piece suits is tummy control. This is great for some women who want to have their suit slim their figure just a little bit. One piece suits can be VERY slimming.
And finally, yes, one piece suits can be very sexy if that is the look that you want. We’ll include some pictures of some examples.

Imagination can be a great thing and sometimes your best friend. Too much or too little of something may not provide the results that you are looking for. Too much of even the best perfume can repel or even cause unintended consequences. More and more women are opting to cover up a little more. They may do it to hide a fault or two, of just because they feel more comfortable and at ease. Boy shorts are very popular. Skirtinis are becoming more popular and come in varying lengths. As mentioned before and as shown from our polls tankinis are very popular.
A few things to consider when buying boy shorts. There is a vast difference in quality. You want to especially consider the look, the quality and the fit when purchasing a boy short. These come in regular length and in briefs. When you try one on, walk around, sit down, kneel down then walk around again. Did it ride up?
Skirtinis are not just skirts that cover. They provide the complete bottom and have some nice advantages.

Underwire Tankini: What is it? What to look for!

Many women/girls like tankinis (sometimes called Camkinis). They provide a little to a lot more coverage and they can be VERY CUTE while providing more freedom than a one piece. Let’s face it, while there can be some real pluses from a one piece, there are also a number of draw backs in areas such as convenience.
Often you can purchase a tankini for just a little more than a bikini. Some tankinis provide just a little more coverage such as the Ujena below (also called a banded bikini).

You can also find a more full coverage tankini such as this Reaction.

Many women appreciate and feel more comfortable with additional support. This can come from either a thicker band such as with the Marilyn Halter top from Ocean Dream/Malibu below,

from the either of the banded Marilyn Halter (two lower pictures of the four below) from Sunset,

or from an Underwire Tankini.

(We carry all of the lines above, if we do not have a particular suit we can get it for you.) We carry budget priced tankinis; however the Ujena, Hot Kiss and the Malibu suits are more moderately priced.

We searched for a good quality underwire tankini. We found one more moderately priced than the one that we currently carry; however, there were problems. The wire can have a tendency to stick through the material. You need to make sure that the material at both ends of the underwire are oversewn. You are going to pay more for any underwire suit and you might as well find one that will last. The ones that we currently carry provide great support, comfort, convenience, fit and style. They are priced high moderate to what might even be considered expensive; however, they sell. Women love these suits. The suit below is from Sunset and comes in an underwire tankini.

These suits can be purchased by bra size and fit almost any women. The tops can come longer and provide more coverage than the one shown. Many of our customers purchase the Sunset top and a Malibu bottom, saving money without sacrificing quality. Sunset Tankinis come in a very large variety of prints and solids.

This year's lines

Malibu will again be our foundation line. We have a wide assortment coming in this year. Unfortunately they will not have as many solid colors; however, we still have some left from last year. We will again carry Sunset Separates; however, like last year we will only carry the underwire tankinis. This is because their price is a little more than some other brands that we carry. Another line that we bought a lot of for this year is Longitude. These are a longer torso suit and all one piece. We’ll have a great price and great selection on these high quality suits. Unfortunately they do not have a web site.
We will also carry Hobie swimsuits again. These are a low moderate price but very cute and a good quality. They do not have a web site. These usually go within a week or two whenever we get them.

Finding the perfect swimsuit for your body type
Before all the technical advice, remember that the most important thing is that you feel comfortable in your suit. Like any other piece of clothing, you want to find something that you like. If you are buying a two-piece suit, be open to different styles or brands for the top and the bottom. Remember THIS IS ABOUT FEELING GREAT AND LOOKING YOUR BEST, and sometimes about performance for athletics.
Remember also that some suits are made primarily for looking great, some are made for swimming and sport, and others are made for both. Quality also varies widely in swimsuits. For the most part, you really get what you pay for. We carry some suits that can be purchased for just $10.00 for the top and bottom, but don’t expect these to last for a long time. We also carry some of the best quality suits made, TYR, Malibu, Sunset, and Fortune.

Whatever you choose, you want to accent your best assets.
Never rely on size. We would never recommend anyone to purchase a suit without trying it on. Sizes are rarely the same from one brand to another and sometimes not even within a brand. If you want your suit to fit perfectly, you have to try it on to see if it does.
One of the most important questions to ask is: Do I want a One-Piece or a Two-Piece Suit?
One advantage of many one piece suits are that they hide or provide extra support for your tummy.

Athletics:
If you plan to do a lot of swimming, playing volleyball, or something else athletic, you might want to consider a one-piece. You don’t have to worry as much about a string coming undone. Another option is a Tankini (more coverage) with Boy Shorts. Boy Shorts are bottoms similar to men’s trunks but cut to fit for a woman’s body. There are a wide variety to choose from. You can also wear Board Shorts as either a bottom or a cover. Whether you’re swimming laps, snorkeling, playing volleyball, or doing something else active, be sure that the swimsuit is comfortable. You don’t want it to ride up or come off. When you try it on, move your arms, squat, walk around a little, and stretch. Make sure that everything stays where you want it to.

Budget:
We have a wide range of prices and quality. You can purchase a bikini, at regular price for only $10.00 to $40.00 (top and bottom together). We also have one piece suits for not much more than that. For our more discerning customers, we have some incredible suits where the entire set sells for about $200.00. Most of our suits are well below this price and can be purchased anywhere along the spectrum.

Separates:
All of our two piece suits are sold as separates with just a couple of exceptions. This allows you to mix and match for the perfect combination. Let’s face it, not all women are the same size on top as they are on the bottom. Many of our customers purchase one brand of suit for the top and another for the bottom. Separates give you the additional advantage of wearing a suit unique to you.

Small Busts:
If you want a little boost, you can pick a suit with a padded top. Usually these can be easily removed. You might also try a suit with horizontal stripes, a pattern, or extra material such as fringes, ruffles, or a bloused top. This will give the illusion of larger busts. You might also want to try a top with strings that tie around the neck, allowing you to adjust for extra cleavage.

Large Busts:
There are a number of options for a woman with large busts. We routinely carry D and sometimes DD or even E tops. You might also want to try on a suit with an under-wire or extra material for support just underneath. These are similar to a sports bra. They provide extra support. If you don’t want to draw additional attention to this part of your body, try a solid and/or lighter color. You may also want to try a sports top or a top with spaghetti straps. If you want full coverage, keep looking because it's there and you can find it.

Long Torso:
Try horizontal stripes. If you need a one piece suit, you can purchase a suit specially made for a longer torso. Tankinis and Bikinis always fit any torso length. A Tankini takes the emphasis away from the long torso. A one piece with high legs will also help to focus the eye on the legs.

Short Torso:
Try vertical strips. A One-Piece with a high neckline or a Two-Piece that sits low on the hips (make sure it fits the contour of your hips so that it doesn't give the appearance of cutting you in half) will give the appearance of a longer torso.

Extra Tummy:
Try a One-Piece, dark solid color, high waist, or Tankini that meets the bottom part of the suit. A number of One-Piece suits provide extra tummy support. Some provide extra loose material for comfort. Try a V neck line to draw the attention up.

Wide Shoulders:
Try a halter top or thick straps.

Ample Hips, Thighs, and Buttocks:
Try a Skirting, Boy Shorts, Board Shorts, or lower legs. You can also purchase suits with an attached skirt or extra skirt. Try a top with extra material as mentioned under Small Busts to create a more proportional look. Consider a solid bottom with a more flamboyant top.

Short Legs:
Try a One-Piece with high legs. Take a look in the three-way mirror and see what this does for you. If you want a Two-Piece try a higher leg bikini bottom.

Hour-Glass figure:
Something with a belt or band across the smallest part of your waist will accentuate this asset.

Full Bodied Curvy Figures:
Suits with bold prints or a darker solid color may be best for your figure. This puts the focus on the entire suit, not just one part.

For all suits’ notice where your eyes are drawn when you look at the suit. Is that were you want eyes to go when it’s on you?
For water-aerobics or frequent activities in a chlorinated pool.
We recommend polyester or a special lycra for a longer lasting suit.

Fabrics
Ask about the fabric. Some hold up better in chlorine and some provide more stretch. There are a number of new fabric and fabric mixes this year.

Color
Remember if you want a body part to look larger, try lighter colors or patterns, if you want it to look smaller, try darker colors and solids.

Wraps
Wraps are very feminine and come in many sizes and types and can be worn in many different ways. There are very nice comfortable modest wraps that cover and flatter. There are very sexy wraps and wrap sets that add that extra flair. Try both pant and skirt wraps (long or short). Wraps are comfortable and multi-purposed. Many of the wraps that we carry accentuate your figure just like the suits mentioned above. They also change in size as you do and are an excellent accessory for maternity.

Caring for your Swimsuit Before Wearing: We have yet to find an absolutely guaranteed fade-resistant fabric when exposed to chlorine, saltwater, lotions and sun. To help set the color in the fabric, rinse your swimsuit in a mixture of two teaspoons of white vinegar and one quart of cold water.Normal Care:Hand wash suits after every wearing. Use cool water and a mild detergent, hang to dry, do not wring or put in a towel or a plastic bag DO NOT DRY IN DRYER. Do not dry in direct sunlight.
Remember that some swimsuits are mostly for looking great, some are for swimming, and some are for both. Make sure you purchase the right suit for the right activity.
